SPECIALTY SPECIFIC?
QUESTION: Is the program specifically for Medical, Physical Therapy, or Chiropractic?
ANSWER: Yes, MPMsoft has been customized for approximately fifty health specialties. It's Billing & Scheduling software that is used by almost every medical specialty. MPMsoft is ideal for all licensed healthcare givers who bill Medicare or private insurance on the CMS 1500 Form.

How Is MPM Different From an EMR?
Many practices are more familiar with EMR’s (electronic medical records), which deal with the clinical aspects of charting a patient's treatment but that may also contain a billing system. EMR's are typically far more expensive than 'stand alone' billing programs like ours (or Lytec, Medisoft, Medical Manager, etc.), and EMRs typically cost upwards of $10,000 per physician. An EMR normally runs on an expensive server that requires the oversight of a system administrator. In contrast, a stand alone billing software can cost ten time less (typically $1,000 per physician) and can typically run as a simple desktop application. Billing systems do heavy duty work for next to nothing, are highly overlooked and under appreciated, but are the backbone of the office as they allow the practice to get paid.

QUESTION: Is this program web-based?
ANSWER: It's a desktop application for Windows 2000, WinXP, Vista, Server2003 & Server2008. It's similar to 'Quicken', but made specifically for claim management and patient billing. And like any other desktop application, the program can be accessed remotely using remote login software such as "log-me-in" or PC-anywhere.

SERVER BASED?
QUESTION: What type of computer do I need?
ANSWER: MPM will run fine on a server, but it does not require one. It runs great on an ordinary AMD or Pentium III computer or laptop with a 32bit or 64 bit Processor and about 1 GB of memory.

OPERATING SYSTEM?
QUESTION: What type of Operating System(s) can I use?
ANSWER: MPM requires a 16 bit, 32 bit, or 64 bit Windows Operating System such as WIN2000(sp4), WinXP, WinVISTA, Win 7, Windows Server 2003 & 2008.

QUESTION: What is a clearinghouse?
ANSWER: A clearinghouse facilitates the transmittal of electronic claims to thousands of insurance payers. Most practices will out of necessity eventually need a clearinghouse for electronic billing as it’s infeasible for a practice to go direct to more than a one or two payers (most popular Medicare, BlueCross). MPM Billing Software creates the electronic file, then it's routed to more than 3000 separate insurance carriers by a clearinghouse. Additionally, a clearinghouse gives a biller a single location to manage all their claims, via an online control panel (much like how online checking can organize your checking activity).

ANSWER:  Since 2003. QUESTION: Where are you going to be in ten years?
ANSWER: Good question. I don’t know that there’s really a good answer. Where will GE be in ten years, or how about Chevron, a hundred year old company if they fail to lead the way in alternative energy? I suppose that ten years from now we would like to have completely replaced Medisoft


EXISTING PATIENTS – DATA CONVERSION
QUESTION: What do we do with our 6000 existing patients in our existing medical billing software system?
ANSWER: We offer experienced data-migration from over 300 source systems, but there’s an additional expense here. Most people simply start from scratch and there’s a several month transition. If you decide you need it, data conversion can range from $600 to $2,200.

ANSWER: Extremely low (we keep them as low as possible). Software updates are an annual flat fee of $798 per year for a 5 user system. 'USERS' & 'PROVIDERS'
QUESTION: How do you define a 'user' and a 'provider'?
ANSWER: A provider is licensed health professional (other than the referring physician) on the 1500 Form (Box 24-J). Or it could possibly be someone that renders health services who you want to track in the software for accounting purposes. Defined by HIPAA law, a user is anyone who views the patient information, and must therefore have a unique login to access the system.

As an example, a solo practice (a single physician) could need to be represented in the software multiple times due to multiple business entities, eg. A doctor may have a personal tax-ID that he is billed under, but may also have a corporate tax-ID that he’s billed under, and then he may have a Group that he’s billed under separately. In this example, one single doctor would take up three “provider” slots in the software. If he has three employee using the software, you have a 6 user system.
